Plant Medicine for Hemorrhoids during Pregnancy
Jul 15th
Hemorrhoids are swollen veins that appear in the rectal area. They can sometimes protrude from the anus. They are often itchy or painful and can sometimes rupture and bleed. Hemorrhoids can occur at any age but are normally thought to be more common as people become older, affecting a quarter or half of the adult population. Men and women are equally susceptible. At a simple level, hemorrhoids develop because blood pressure in anorectal veins becomes too large for the walls to resist. Many pregnant women get hemorrhoids while pregnant, especially during the third trimester. Hemorrhoids are more common if the woman is constipated. Three common causes of hemorrhoids are: straining during bowel movements, the strain of excess weight, and the pressure of sitting or standing for long periods of time. If you have had hemorrhoids before pregnancy, you’re more likely to get them again while pregnant. During pregnancy, your growing uterus can increase the pressure on the veins in the lower body. Pregnancy hormones can also cause the walls of your veins to relax. Straining, especially during hard bowel movements, traps more blood in the swollen veins and can cause hemorrhoids to protrude from the rectum. They may also develop More >
Alternative Medicine For Constipation
May 24th
Constipation has confused many people when they do not know whether they have constipation. Constipation is more often than not caused by a diet which denies the body of roughage. It is quite possible that our ancestors did not suffer as much as we do in the modern world from the infrequent or difficult passage of hard, dry stool known as constipation. Their diets have been without the availability of refined and rich foods that we can now find in our stores superstore. Constipation can be very annoying especially after exercise or push a bowel movement or have a bowel movement more than 3 days. Constipation is common among children, the elderly and pregnant women. It is very important to establish regular elimination habits, because forcing evacuations can cause stains if not healed can become infected and cause other problems. There are a range of conditions related to constipation, such as hemorrhoids, intestinal obstruction, chronic constipation, spastic colitis, hernia, depression, diabetes, diverticulosis, Parkinson’s disease and lead poisoning, it is important that if your condition is considered much more serious than constipation, then you should consult a health professional for proper diagnosis and treatment. May 16th
The following is an excerpt from Hot and Cold Health by R. G. Heft (Acupuncture Physician FL 1992- 2002) based on traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines and the questioning and counseling of 10,000+ Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is based on the theory, observation that everything is an ongoing balance of opposites, many of which we control through diet, exercise, sex, thought, etc. Know the whole before attempting to diagnose and or treat the part, as you cannot cure the part ithout curing the whole. The whole is equal to and greater than the sum of its parts. Conventional or Alternative Medicine is not Enough: Go Green
Dec 31st
Whether you are strictly a proponent of Conventional medicine or a combination of both Alternative and Conventional to cure your health problem, it does not make sense if you have harmful habits. One must not smoke, drink, or do drugs. One must manage one’s stress, exercise moderately, and, most importantly one must eat well ~ food is your medicine.Components of the Greens Diet When asked, the type of diet or healthy eating practice I preach is a diet I call “The Greens Diet”. I actually stumbled on it at a Overeater’s Anonymous meeting. It consists of: 12oz of protein (chicken, fish preferably salmon) 1 fruit per day (at least)20 oz of Green leafy vegetables: Beet tops (red and green leaves) Kale Spinach Collard Greens Swiss Chard Mustard greens Other vegetables include: Turnips, Parsnips, Jicama, Green beans, Summer and Winter squashes I tell my friends, my family, and, my patients, at a minimum to incorporate features of the Greens Diet into their diet, if not replace their diets completely. The green vegetables I recommend above are the leafy and cruciferous kind. Fresh is always best but if a particular vegetable is not in season, by all means, there’s More >
